DESCRIPTION:Please join the Brown County Ursuline Alumni Association in honoring the 175-year history and legacy of Education in the Wilderness.\n\nAn Ohio Historical Marker will be dedicated to The Ursulines of Brown County on Friday\, September 17\, 2021 at 12:30pm.\n\nThe ceremony will be held at the entrance to the Ursuline/Chatfield College campus: 20918 St. Rt. 251\, Saint Martin\, OH 45118.\n\nCovid protocols adopted by Chatfield College requesting visitors to wear masks and socially distance will be honored.\n\nFor further information and verification of your attendance please contact Debra Barber at 513-262-3680.\n\n-- On July 21\, 1845\, a group of eleven Ursuline Sisters from northern France arrived in Saint Martin\, Ohio. Their goal was to provide education for children. The sisters quickly established their boarding and day school and began classes in October of that year. Their identity so united with the spirit of their new environment that they became legally known as the Ursulines of Brown County. --\n\nFor over 60 years\, the Ohio Historical Marker Program has championed our state's history. More than 1750 markers have been erected across Ohio by local community sponsors in partnership with the Ohio History Connection. These unique landmarks showcase the important people\, places and events in our shared history.
