Chemistry Instructor - Full Time Faculty

Essential Duties And Responsibilities-
To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform essential duties to expected performance standards . Reasonable accommodations are made as required for persons who are disabled under the Americans With Disabilities Act.
Teach 30 semester units per year as assigned, some of which may include off-campus classes, including classes located at business and industry sites and classes on more that one campus during a given semester.
Remain current with subject matter and instructional methodology and provide an extra learning environment where students are encouraged to become lifelong learners and develop life skills that typify a successful individual.
Maintain posted office hours in accordance with departmental and college policies.
Employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
Communicate progress in the course to students in a timely manner.
Determine and submit students' grades in accordance with established college polies and procedures.
Assist student advising.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities-
Knowledge and ability to use common chemistry lab equipment, apparatus and glass ware.
Communicate one- on- one, in small groups, and in classroom.
Demonstrate familiarity and Interest in Ohio's College Credit Plus program.
Experience teaching online courses with preference for use of the Canvas LMS.
Keen familiarity with online quality standards such as those identified in Quality Matters.
Experience teaching in a community college setting and or dual enrollment environment.
Experience utilizing technology to teach science courses in an online environment.
Word processing. presentation software, internet, and email.
Ability to work with a diverse group of students.
Maintain confidentiality of confidential and sensitive information.
Create and implement appropriate and educational lesson plans.
Apply ethical standards to work situations.
Make work decisions in accordance with SSCC's values.
Master's degree in Chemistry or Chemistry Education is required. A Ph.D. is preferred.
