About Us

Ohio Legacy Law, led by James E. Schroeder, Esq., is a client-focused law firm serving Hillsboro and the surrounding Southern Ohio communities — including Highland, Brown, Adams, Fayette, Pike, and Clinton Counties. Our office is located on the first floor of the historic Scott House on West Main Street in Hillsboro, and our practice centers on estate planning, probate and estate administration, real estate transactions, and civil litigation, along with business, nonprofit, and municipal governance matters. We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented Paralegal to join our small, close-knit team and help us continue delivering high-quality, personalized legal service.

What You'll Do

  • Manage civil litigation case files from intake through resolution, including deadline tracking, discovery coordination, and court filings
  • Manage probate case files, including preparing court documents, tracking filing deadlines, and coordinating with clients, courts, and third parties
  • Draft estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related instruments, for attorney review
  • Draft and prepare deeds and other real estate transfer documents
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties
  • Maintain organized case files and support general office workflows

What We're Looking For

  • Prior paralegal experience preferred; paralegal certificate or equivalent training a plus
  • Experience with civil litigation and/or probate case management strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with estate planning document drafting and/or real estate deed preparation is a plus
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Word and general office/legal software
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Professional, discreet, and client-oriented demeanor
  • Notary Public commission a plus (or willingness to obtain one)
